Abu Dhabi - The Higher Organizing Committee for the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) that includes esteemed members of the Armed Forces GHQ, ADNEC and IDEX, are meeting this week to discuss key developments and preparations ahead of IDEX 2015.
IDEX is a unique platform that provides an opportunity to showcase the growing capabilities of the defence and security industry. An event of this scale requires the support and cooperation of many government entities. This week's meeting, chaired by Supreme Committee President, HE Major General Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, along with HE Ali Saeed Bin Harmal, ADNEC Managing Director, Mr.Saleh Al Marzooqi, CEO IDEX as well as representatives of local and federal authorities and UAE Armed Forces GHQ, will discuss plans for IDEX, NAVDEX; the Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition, and UMEX; the Unmanned Systems Exhibition, to ensure yet another successful edition.
Building on a long history of success, IDEX 2013 was the most successful edition in the event's history. Momentum carried into 2014, where by January, 90% of the available exhibition space was already reserved for IDEX 2015. The emergence of the NAVDEX, a key pillar underneath IDEX 2013, and UMEX which will make its first appearance in 2015, mark significant milestones for IDEX and showcase its commitment to bringing the best the global defence industry has to offer to Abu Dhabi.
This year's launch of UMEX rounds out IDEX's defence offering, giving government and defence leaders unprecedented access to all things Air, Land and Sea. UMEX aims to capitalize on the expanding unmanned aerial vehicle industry that's rapidly defining the modern defence era. It's a unique platform, located at the center of IDEX 2015, to establish and strengthen relationships with government departments, businesses and armed forces throughout the region. IDEX committees will use the new exhibition to articulate the potential of unmanned systems and will work together to make a successful debut at IDEX 2015.
HE Major General Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, Head of the 2015 IDEX Higher Organizing Committee, said: "Hosting IDEX is of great significance to Abu Dhabi, it brings our great city to the world's center stage and provides the premiere forum for industry and government leaders to build new partnerships. H.E. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) further added that ADNEC has taken number of initiatives to coordinate with key organisations to enhance ADNEC's readiness to host this major event, that included, the developing and upgrading of the surrounding streets, and the road infrastructure to accommodate the growing needs of exhibitors, in order to reaffirm their trust in ADNEC.
IDEX is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and supported by His Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Organized by IDEX LLC in association with the UAE Armed Forces GHQ and welcoming Tawazun as Strategic Partner, IDEX 2015 will take place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from the 22nd- 26th February 2015.
