Abu Dhabi, UAE - 15 May, 2013: The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) said today that it has appointed John McCarthy as Global Head of Infrastructure, effective immediately.

Mr. McCarthy will be responsible, in collaboration with senior management, for developing and implementing investment strategy for the Infrastructure Division and overseeing all day-to-day activities of the Infrastructure team. This includes managing ADIA's existing portfolio of infrastructure investments, as well as working with team members to originate and execute on new transactions. Based in Abu Dhabi, Mr. McCarthy will report to Majed Al Romaithi, Executive Director of the Real Estate & Infrastructure Department.

With over 20 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, Mr. McCarthy joins ADIA from Deutsche Bank where he was Managing Director and Global Head of RREEF Infrastructure since 2005. Prior to that, he served as Global Head of Infrastructure Capital & Structured Capital Markets at ABN AMRO Bank. Mr. McCarthy began his career in the infrastructure sector in 1990 at BZW in Australia, where he ultimately rose to the rank of Head of Infrastructure.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Al Romaithi said: "John has a strong reputation as one of the most experienced investment professionals in the infrastructure sector. His knowledge, proven leadership skills and deep relationships across the industry will play an important role in further developing ADIA's strategy in the infrastructure space."

Mr. McCarthy holds a Post-Graduate degree in Finance as well as a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
