TUNIS - Tunisair flights in Meetiga airport in Tripoli, Libya, are still suspended and the company will resume its services in the capital as soon as the Tripoli international airport, which is being fitted out, will restart its activities, said Transport Minister Salem Miladi.
During a ceremony held on Monday in honour of the Tunisair crew of the aircraft which had been blocked for 7 hours at the Meetiga Military Airport by a group of armed Libyan rebels, the Minister said air traffic to the international airport of Tripoli will return to normal once all security conditions in this airport are met.
It is to be reminded that the Tunisair Airbus 814, with 54 its passengers (7 Tunisians and 47 Libyans), some of them (Libyan nationals) were wounded, had managed to take off with a 7-hour delay.
The Minister said the situation of the company is a cause of "apprehensions," since current indicators reveal a lack of bookings for the next season.
According to Mr. Miladi, the company will record losses of 120 million dinars this year and air traffic will consequently fall by 15%.
