'Move Ministries Complex To The Outskirts'
KUWAIT CITY, March 31
A group of experts, citizens and expatriates say withdrawing the driving licenses of expatriates will not solve the traffic problem.
To the contrary such a decision would be looked upon as discrimination against people living in this country, irrespective whether the person is a citizen or an expatriate.
When asked for his view one of the expatriates, identified only S. AbdulHamid, said withdrawing the driving licenses from expatriates is something 'unthinkable of' because there are more than one million expatriates living in Kuwait and most of them work for the private sector.
He asked if it is humanitarian to withdraw the driving license of a person who has come to work as driver and changed his job.
Economic expert AbdulLatif Al-Ahmad said the traffic problem can be solved only through road network improvement, particularly in the Capital and some other provinces.
Political activist Bader Al-Baidan said he supports withdrawing the driving licenses of expatriates who have obtained them illegally, but at the same time, the citizens who have contributed to this phenomenon should also be punished.
He added there are lots of ways to solve the traffic problem and one of those is moving the Ministries Complex to the outskirts.
