Parents opposed to fee hikes at a Dubai school have set up an action group to petition authorities to rethink the rise.
Plans by education provider Taaleem to introduce a 15 per cent increase in fees at Uptown Primary School in Mirdif have sparked anger from some parents who believe the firm is failing to consider the financial pressures families already face.
A mother-of-one, whose child attends Uptown, told 7DAYS: "I am really very disappointed about the school ethics. They seem to not be aware of the world economic situation and that people are losing jobs. "There is no increase in anything else in Dubai except the school fees."
An email address has been set up by some concerned parents who are keen to gather feedback from others to determine whether a majority of those with children at the school are against the rise.
The group says that if there is a strong response they may consider approaching Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority and the Ministry of Education.
Taaleem has said the fee increases are vital to maintain standards at its schools and said it is keeping parents informed about the issue.
