'Issue Still Under Study'
KUWAIT CITY, April 30
Media Security Department of Ministry of Interior has denied the news circulating in some social networking sites about the increase in fines and penalties for traffic violations.
In a press release, the department revealed that several proposals were made to impose heavy penalties for some traffic violations that have dangerous consequences on the safety of the road users.
Experts from General Traffic Department and other concerned authorities are currently discussing the issue of increasing the fines and penalties for some traffic violations. So far, no decisions have been made and no suggestions were approved. The results of the discussions will be referred to the top authorities of the Ministry of Interior, after which necessary decisions regarding the issue will be taken through special legislative channels.
Media Security Department bid the public to confirm the authenticity of the news that are circulated on social networking sites, stressing that the communication channels with the ministry are always open for verification or enquiry of the issue.
