DOHA: Total Research Centre Qatar located at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), offered a Geostatistics course in its premises recently. Geostatistics is a reservoir modeling technique that is the basis for many of the oil and gas hydrocarbon field models used in Qatar and worldwide.

The lecture was given by Dr Olivier Dubrule, an internationally recognised expert in the field, who also is the Director of Total Research Centre Qatar. The two-days course was attended by 35 representatives from Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas and Total.

The three companies have been partners in oil and gas development activities for years and are currently reinforcing these links, as Qatar Petroleum recently opened a research centre in QSTP.

Total Research Centre Qatar at QSTP performs research activities in Exploration & Production, Environment and Petrochemicals, but also considers training as a key objective.

Indeed the Centre offers an amphitheatre and several training rooms enabling the organisation of workshops, seminars, temporary scientific exhibits or public relations events.
