DHI QAR/ Aswat al-Iraq: South Oil Company director general Dhia Jaffar disclosed today the increase of oil production of Nassiriya oil field to the double to reach 35.000 b/d.

He added that the formation of Thi Qar oil company will be completed by the mid of next year.

Jaffar told Aswat al-Iraq that the production was increased from 15.000 to 35.000 b/d, but it was not the only accomplishment by the company.

He added that Lihais Oil Field, 70 km North West of Basra, increased its production from 35.000 to 70.000 b/d.

Jaffar said that the second stage of production will be at the end of this year to reach 50.000 b/d.

He pointed out that Basra production reached to 2.2 million b/d and the export capacity reached to 2.15 million b/d.

Nassiriya, center of the province, lies 365 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
