Amman - Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour on Saturday said Jordan and Kuwait continue to maintain their historically rock-solid relations and commended Kuwait's economic support to the Kingdom.
He made the remark while briefing a delegation from the Jordan-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group on Jordan's achievements in legislative reform, as well as in the economic, educational and medical sectors.
"The House always tries to upgrade its work and will realign its internal system to fit into the 'unprecedented' constitutional amendments and a host of legislation regulating partisan, political and socio-economic life, towards the formation of a parliamentary system of government that will involve all political and social forces in the decision-making process," Srour said.
The House Speaker expressed hope that a political solution could be found for the Syrian crisis in order to end the bloodshed there and safeguard the unity of the people and land of Syria.
He said Jordan's hosting of thousands of Syrian refugees every day had severely strained its economy.
Speaking of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Srour said the ongoing Israeli violations against Palestinian holy sites, particularly the daily assaults on occupied Jerusalem's Al Aqsa Mosque, were a matter of serious concern.
Head of the Kuwaiti team, MP Hamad Harshani, said Kuwait considers Jordan as "part of" the Gulf Cooperation Council, adding that Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah has a keen interest in further strengthening bilateral relations.
