BURAIMI -- Under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Buraimi, Buraimi Industrial Estate (BIE), yesterday organised a forum on 'Investment and Support for Youth Projects', alongside an Omani products exhibition at the Buraimi University College (BUC).

Al Busaidy stressed on the importance of the forum which offers an opportunity for youth to identify sources of funding and highlight the investment opportunities available in Buraimi Governorate. "It is important for youth to consider positively initiating and developing their projects in line with the available funding sources," he noted.

More than 25 local companies took part in the Omani Products Expo, held on the sidelines of the forum. Eight working papers were presented by representatives of Buraimi Industrial Estate, Directorate-General of Small and Medium Enterprises at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Development Bank, Sharakah Fund for Development of Youth Projects, Industrial Innovation Centre at PEIE, Buraimi University College, and University of Buraimi. There was also a presentation by one of the successful companies incubated by The Knowledge Mine (TKM) at Knowledge Oasis Muscat.

Addressing the audience, Abdullah al Kaabi, General Manager of Buraimi Industrial Estates, said: "The forum attempts to deliver a clear message to the youth in Oman, besides highlighting the significance of investment and its direct impact on the society. The forum also generates awareness among the Omani youth on the importance of manufacturing and industry being one of the main pillars of the national economy."

The forum aimed at highlighting the PEIE goals, facilities and services it offers to investors, attracting youth to have successful projects, highlighting the role of colleges, universities and research centres in industrial development and entrepreneurship. "The event is also meant to underline the objectives of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) generally and Buraimi Industrial Estate particularly," Al Kaabi added.
