Sharjah: Sharjah Municipality announced that they will provide special permits for commercial establishments including shops and restaurants that wish to extend their working hours during the month of Ramadan and Eid.
Omar Al Sharji, Director of Operations and Inspection at Sharjah Municipality, said that these permits will be in accordance with a set of rules and regulations and will be restricted to establishments that provide specific services.
Restaurants, hair salons, bakeries, food and confectionary shops, cafeterias and other service providers needed by the public will be allowed to apply for the permits that will allow them to extend their working hours till four in the morning instead of up to midnight. He added that these permits will give people more time to accomplish what might be difficult for them during the day in Ramadan.
Al Sharji added that the municipality’s decision to grant these permits is in line with the nature of the month of Ramadan and people’s needs and requirements during this month.
Another reason, he said, was that summer nights tend to be short and extending the hours will give people more time to run their errands, stressing that all the facilities that obtain a permit will be monitored by the municipality to ensure that they do not create any disturbance during the late hours of operation.
Permits can be easily and quickly obtained from the municipality’s Department of Operations and Inspection in Sharjah’s industrial area.
