Al-Ajmi calls on govt to update KAC fleet

KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait might soon experience water shortage if it does not take serious steps to increase water production, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting MP Riyadh Al-Adsani.

"Water desalination is the most appropriate way to meet the country's growing demand for fresh water. It is necessary to fully support the water desalination projects, especially since the attempt to develop technologies for this purpose has yielded positive results," Al-Adsani added.

On the rising level of water pollution in the country, Al-Adsani appealed to the government to quickly take the required steps to stop the dumping of pollutants and other destructive substances into the seawater. He stressed the need to protect public health at all times.

Meanwhile, MP Ammar Al-Ajmi has asked the government to update the fleet of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC). He emphasized the importance of protecting the reputation of the national carrier, which has been lagging behind its competitors due to the negligence of the executive authority. He urged Communications Minister Salem Al-Othaina to immediately take the necessary measures to address the problem. He pointed out the procedures taken in accordance with law number 6/2008 are not enough, so the government must submit a comprehensive fleet development plan to the Parliament as soon as possible for KAC to reclaim its status as one of the leading international airlines.
