TDIC celebrates Manarat Al Saadiyat success with Palme Middle East Awards
Tourism Development and Investment Company, the master developer of tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, is celebrating the success of The Saadiyat Story at its Manarat Al Saadiyat development with top awards won at Palme Middle East Awards and Arab Achievement Awards. Since its launch two months ago, the purpose-built visitor and exhibition centre in Saadiyat Island's Cultural District has attracted more than 5,000 people.
Hilton signs deal with Jenan
Hilton Worldwide announced the signing of a Management Agreement with Jenan Real Estate Company to introduce the first Hilton branded property in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, the 400-room Hilton Al Khobar Hotel & Residence, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2013. Hilton Worldwide is partnering with Jenan Real Estate Company, experts in real estate and community development in the Eastern Province, on the 400-room hotel and residence. The new property will be part of an upscale mixed-use development with a range of facilities including a hotel, residential towers, a retail mall and an office building. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2011.
Bliss voted best spa in Middle East
Bliss Spa, the internationally-renowned New York and London beauty spot located at W. Doha Hotel in West Bay, gained three prestigious honours at the inaugural Middle East Spa Awards 2010 held at The Hotel Show in Dubai last month. Along with the coveted Best Spa title, Bliss was also given the Best Spa Design due to the United Designers' work to create a stunning environment, and the Best Marketing Award thanks to the support and dedication of the Bliss Team headquartered in New York. The Middle East Spa Awards were established for two main reasons — to recognise the outstanding quality of services and amenities provided by spas in the region, and to provide a platform from which they could promote themselves to their clients as an award-winning spa.

Golden Sands Hotel Apartments Dubai was once again felicitated at Expedia's Hotel Awards function — Year 2010, which is held annually during Arabian Travel Market. For the second consecutive year (2009-10), Golden Sands Hotel Apartments received the award for Top Producer by Room Nights from Expedia, the popular online consumer portal for instant hotel bookings worldwide. "We participate every year in the ATM as it provides the best opportunity to meet and strengthen our ties with our existing partners, both online and offline, as well as make contacts with potential partners from emerging markets," says Mohammad Khouri, general manager of the Golden Sands Hotel Apartments.
Course for tour guides in Sharjah
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has launched its second training and licensing course for tour guides in the emirate. The course forms part of the Tourist Guides Licensing and Training Programme 2009, which was launched by the SCTDA, in association with Skyline University College, with the aim of enhancing the tourism services offered to the increasing number of tourists visiting the emirate annually. The second course is built on the tremendous success achieved by the first five-day training course.
