BARQA, June 2nd, 2013 -- Ahmed Al-Zubair Ahmed Al-Sanusi, Member of the Libyan Transitional Government, has announced that the Barqa region should be a federal territory under the Federal Libyan State.

The Libyan News Agency (LANA) quoted Al-Sanusi during celebrations held in Al-Marg city on the occasion of the sixty-fourth anniversary of the Independence of Barqa in 1949. Al-Sanusi emphasized the need to re-activate the Constitution of 1951unamended for the region, and the formation of a Parliament of Barqa component of the Senate and House of Representatives which would include all the inhabitants of Barqa without discrimination, thus creating a government of the province in cooperation with all political parties to ensure that the interests of the region are protected.

Al-Sanusi asked in his speech that the General National Congress and the interim government deposit a budget for the Barqa region into the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi, and give priority to the development of the region in all areas and create jobs for young people, adding that it is not possible to wait until the end of armed conflict between the parties and entities in Libya.
