Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) plans to start exporting Soren model of Samand equipped with TU5 engine to Russia.
According to a fax sent to Iran Daily, IKCO expanded its after-sales services in Russia last year and plans to start TU5 engine Samand cars in the coming months.
Iran Khodro is currently exporting Samand meeting Euro4 standard as well as Peugeot 206 to Russia. The company is the largest automobile producer in Iran, founded in 1962. It has produced Samand as the first national car on the Peugeot 405 platform.
The firm has a long-term relationship with PSA Peugeot Citroën, and assembles a number of Peugeot models under license from the French firm. In 2009, Peugeot 206, Peugeot Pars, Peugeot 405, Peugeot Roa, and Samand sedans were IKCO's top exports mainly to Iraq, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Syria and Afghanistan.
