Oil sources said here today that the Russian Lukoil company started excavations in the 10th site in Thi Qar and Muthanna provinces, pointing that the province pledged that this site is empty of explosive mines.

The sources added that this stage will last for six months to be followed by drawing the maps to determine oil sites.

The site extends to 5500 square kilometers, which was given within the 4th bid of oil contracts by oil ministry.

Nassiriya, center of the province lies 365 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
