DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) unveiled a plan to construct a road linking Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) with Shamal Road and the University Road.
The project is part of the fast road projects to be constructed along the western border and part of the northern borders of RLIC. The current one-track road linking Ras Laffan with Shamal Road and other private estates will be developed to secure safe access to this important industrial centre.
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning designed the initial project earlier and presented to Ashghal for construction. Ashghal recently signed a contract of the detailed design of the project with engineering consultation companies.
The project will be linked to the 16km University Road and there will be direct access to Intersection No. 66 on Shamal Road and part of the road west to RLIC with 8.5km. The road will have three lanes on each direction, lighting, service roads and other infrastructure.
