Abu Dhabi, June 24th, 2012 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has recently formed two specialized Standing Technical Committees to address standardization and conformity assessment priorities of the Emirate.
The first committee will focus on standards supporting the Building Code, fire safety, water & wastewater, electrical, environmental issues, accessibility, energy & sustainability standards, and occupational practices helping to set standards for qualification of people practicing trades & crafts, and other specifications according to the priorities of Abu Dhabi regulators. Meanwhile, the second committee will focus on meeting the needs of Abu Dhabi regulators for standards in the area of food safety, food cultivation, medical equipment, medicines and healthcare. Following priorities defined in recent meetings of these Standing Technical Committees - working groups are being formed to harmonise the use of reference standards in the emirate, so that only one agreed standard applies for the whole of Abu Dhabi. Eng. Hussein Salem Al Kathiri, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council said "One of the requirements of the development of quality infrastructure in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to work on coordination and harmonization of standards in the emirate.
