Amman - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan said on Saturday the Qatari government is interested in financing Jordanian energy, health, transport, public works and railway projects.

He told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of the Arab Institute for Planning that an agreement with the Gulf Arab state is imminent on developmental projects that will be bankrolled through the Gulf Fund at an estimated amount of about $1.25 billion.

The minister said the Qataris had pledged during a recent visit to Jordan to work with the Kingdom for financing priority projects which, he said, would ease the burdens on the state budget.

He said a gas storage facility and a gas terminal are among projects Qatar will finance, adding that such sectors are also open for the private sector and local investors.

Hassan said the feasible and job-generating enterprises would eventually ease the burdens on the treasury.
