DOHA: Comoros Islands offers lucrative opportunities for foreign investment, especially in areas like fishing, tourism and agriculture, and a number of Qatari businessmen are exploring business and investment opportunities in the country.

A visiting trade delegation from Comoros met their Qatari counterparts at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) here yesterday.

Present was the The Assistant Foreign Minister for Follow-Up Affairs H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi.

He pointed out that Qatar was actively supporting development and investment in Comoros as part of the Arab League's resolve to back the country up economically.

The Arab League is supporting Comoros in four areas and they are, namely, human resource development, infrastructure, business and foreign investments.

QCCI board member, Mohamed Jauhar, called on fellow Qatari businessmen to invest in Comoros and added that the government of the country is actively encouraging foreign investment.

Present was Ahmed Bazi, chairman of Comoros Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He, in his address to Qatari trade and industry representatives, said that foreign investments are 100 percent protected by law in his country.
