Organisers for The Legends Rock Dubai have chalked out the final programme for the tennis exhibition event to be held here from November 8-10.
The event will open with Kids' Day, between 3-5pm, at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel on November 8.
The legendary Borg is leading the cream of senior players for The Legends Rock Dubai.
Borg, winner of 57 ATP Tour singles titles, is being joined by the rest of the field in an attempt to bring a new kind of entertainment to the UAE.
"The aim is to combine tennis greatness and the element of fun," stated Farbod Dowlatshahi of organisers Delwood Consultancy Services. In fact, it was Farbod along with younger brother Mehbod along with fellow Iranian Mansour Bahrami who were primarily responsible in convincing Borg to step out of retirement and be part of the Dubai exhibition.
"Dubai hosts two of the best tournaments on the ATP and WTA circuits. I think this seniors' exhibition will fit in perfectly," Farbod opined.
The Kids Day on November 8, which will be sponsored by Damac, will take in a maximum of 200 children from 5 to 17 years for the two-hour session with legends such as Bjorn Borg, Ilie Nastase, Vijay Amritraj, Mansour Bahrami, Michael Stich, Henri Leconte and Guy Forget.
This will be followed by a Social Pro-Am which will be by invitation only from 3.30 to 5.30pm. The opening day will conclude with an invitation only gala dinner at 8pm.
The main action will commence the next day at 7pm with the official opening ceremony. This will be followed by a singles exhibition match between Michael Stich and Guy Forget to be followed by a doubles exhibition pairing Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami against Bjorn Borg and Ilie Nastase. The exhibition matches will be followed by a reception with the stars and supporters.
The final day of the event will begin with a singles exhibition at 3pm between Borg and Leconte and will be followed by a final doubles exhibition between Stich and Vijay Amritraj and Bahrami and Nastase.
After the closing ceremony, the partners of The Legends Rock Dubai will attend Phil Collins's Final Farewell Tour concert organised by Mirage Promotions.
