MUSCAT -- Oman Oil Company (OOC) and Schlumberger signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction and operation of an industrial training centre for the oil and gas industry. The aim of the centre is to train and develop the academic as well as the industrial skills of Omani nationals in the upstream oil and gas industry. The MOU was signed at a ceremony in Muscat by Ahmed al Wahaibi, the CEO of OOC and the Country Manager of Schlumberger, Chokri Benamor.
The partnership with Schlumberger will see the two companies develop, establish, finance and co-own the facility. Schlumberger has an established track record in delivering world-class training in the oil and gas industry making a partner of choice for OOC. "The upgrading of technical skills in the oil and gas sector is a key part of our strategy to empower Omanis to be active participants in the Sultanate's economy," said Al Wahaibi. "Enriching industrial skills and knowledge transfer of technology, in particular, will go a long way in enabling Omanis and the country to be regionally, as well as, globally competitive."
