Cairo - Egyptian Vice-president Omar Suleiman threatened Egyptian people with military coup d'etat, while hundreds of thousands of people are still in al-Tahrir Square and insist on Mubarak removal of power.
Suleiman said if situation does not return to normalcy, the army will control the situation with a military coup d'etat.
Speaking on Egyptian TV on Tuesday, Suleiman said that dialogue and understanding are the first steps to achieve tranquility in the country and ending current crisis.
He added that another solution is coup d'etat and we want to avoid revolution which means taking unwise, immediate and irresponsible steps, and we do not want to turn to that direction in order to protect the country and its achievements.
Suleiman did not refer to treason committed by President Mubarak against Egyptian people and the Palestine cause, but called him one of heroes of October War and added that the Egyptians, who respect their elderly, should not insult him.
Referring to continuation of talks with young people and political forces in the country to solve the current crisis, Suleiman underlined that chaos may take the country to an unknown situation which we do not want.
Concerning the request of some people for a civil disobedience, the VP said that this request may be dangerous for the country and we cannot tolerate it and we do not want to interact with the society with police force, but the interaction should be with dialogue and upon realities and existing abilities.
He underscored that the prime minister and cabinet ministers are trying to provide people with their needs and return situation to normalcy.
Suleiman's threats were broadcast by the public TV while the Egyptians, in the last two weeks, have always underlined that they do not want to relinquish their demand which is mainly removal of president Mubarak from power.
