Muscat - The official inauguration of Atyab Bakery - Oman's largest industrial bakery - was held in Barka on April 8 under the auspices of H E Dr Ali al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and was attended by officials from various ministries, private-sector companies and businessmen.
Atyab Bakery is the first industrial bakery in Oman that has the capability to produce more than 200 varieties of products, snack items, fresh and frozen, under one roof. This bakery, commissioned at a cost of RO17mn has achieved HACCP and ISO22000 health and food safety certifications and is a groundbreaking project in the Gulf region, a press release said.
Atyab Bakery has a fully automated production facility and employs the latest baking innovations to produce both fresh and frozen bakery products and snacks. The bakery has an hourly production capacity of 24,000 buns, 5,000 sliced bread and 12,000 Arabic bread. This is in addition to several automated production lines with the capability to produce numerous varieties of cakes, puffs, muffins, croissants, sweets, etc, which are sold under the Dahabi brand.
"Atyab Bakery has put together a team of thorough professionals who have years of experience and are well acquainted with the nuances of running a bakery of this stature," Ali Habaj, CEO of Atyab Investments, said.
"With a total built-up area of 24,000sq m, the bakery is easily the largest in Oman and among the top bakeries in the GCC, if not the world," Manal al Abdwani, chairperson of Atyab Investments, said.
