DOHA: Dealers in the Omani Market have called the company in charge of doing maintenance and excavation works for a faster finish.

The repair works have been going on for over two weeks now.

Maintenance work around the area are posing threats to dealers as Ramadan is a week ahead, a high business time at the Omani Market. Most people prefer to buy Ramadan special items like spices, cinnamon, cardamom dried lemon, rose water, and ghee from Omani Market.

The market also has a large variety of dates on display, a must-be food on the Iftar table. The wholesalers who have fully loaded with fresh imports of special items feel that the maintenance has become a hindrance for their business.

Most elderly people, especially women, buy items sitting in their cars. Since most of the area had been blocked, the dealers do not have many customers and are facing losses. The prices at the Omani Markets are much cheaper than at other major centres in the city.
