Abu Dhabi, Apr 09th, 2012 (WAM) -- Borouge and Takreer, two firms in the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ADNOC Group of Companies, launched today their joint Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) campaign aiming to enhance environmental awareness among the local community.
The campaign will introduce the public to the practices the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry has adopted to protect the environment and maintain the health and safety of its people and operations at all times. The launching ceremony took place at Shaikh Khalifa Energy Complex in Abu Dhabi on April 9, 2012, and was attended by Rashed Saud Al Shamsi Director of Petrochemicals at ADNOC and Chairman of the Borouge's Marketing and Sales Company, Abdulaziz Alhajri CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Co. Ltd. (Borouge), Jasem Al Sayegh CEO of Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer), CEOs of other ADNOC's Group of Companies, as well as representatives from the local government establishments and organisations in Abu Dhabi. "The Borouge and Takreer HSE Campaign is in line with our commitment to sustainability and world-class leadership in HSE practices," said Alhajri in his opening speech. "The campaign reflects the value of cooperation and the significance of sustainability and social responsibility policies adopted by ADNOC and its Group of Companies". He pointed out that the well-being of people at Borouge and the community where the Company operates is embodied in its value of 'Respect'. "Looking after ourselves and the environment is the most important thing that we do to ensure a safe and healthy life, and leave behind a better world for the generations to come". The event featured the opening of an 'environmental exhibition' which was followed by presentations and lectures delivered by the participants on environmental issues and challenges facing the global community. The campaign will continue until April12 during which a blood donation campaign will be arranged, in addition to a marathon race for men, women and children, an entertaining activity for children, a fire fighting training session for women and a contest on the principles of preserving health, safety and environment.
