Dubai: The Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis, the integrated free zone technology park, has announced the appointment of Hayssam Balach as senior vice-president for business development.

In his new role at DSOA, Balach’s responsibilities include attracting technology companies to set-up operations at DSO in line with the free zone’s mission to create a universally recognised, state-of-the-art, holistic technology hub. Balach will also be responsible for highlighting DSO’s role as a facilitator of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as research and development.

Balach has previously held various positions at Sonics, MIPS Technologies, Toshiba, Hitachi and Amdahl. His previous responsibilities include hiring and managing application engineers and sales managers, and overseeing local marketing activities.

A wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronics-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development divisions in the Middle East and North Africa region.
