BEIRUT: President of the Lebanese economic forum Rafik Zantout said Sunday that political statements in Lebanon did not have any negative effects on the country’s capability of attracting investments. “Investments were not affected but we should always be keen on preserving the country’s sound economic and financial strategies,” he said. “We are witnessing worldwide movements today in the aim of securing a comprehensive peace in the region which will also lead to economic and social stability.” He added that reaching a peace agreement in the region will definitely create more job opportunities in Lebanon and the Arab countries. Zantout noted that what is needed at this point is the adoption of strategies that would protect Arab countries from any other economic crises. He also emphasized the need to find ways for removing any obstacles facing the Arab joint economic work. He also stressed on the importance of cooperating with big countries and creating a business friendly environment to encourage investments in Arab countries and mainly in Lebanon. – The Daily Star
