By Fawaz Karameh KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Spending on ventures outlined in the 2010-2011 state development strategy amounted to KD 3.19 billion, up to 61.5 percent of the total budget earmarked for these projects, according to Dr. Adel Al-Wugayyan, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development.

In remarks to KUNA, he said this assessment was based on revision of the final account of the projects of the first plan of the year.

Spending focused on government departments working in the economic sector, where proportion of the expenditure reached 48 percent as compared to the overall spending on development ventures in the first year of the scheme (2010-2011).

Most of the spending was in the sectors of power, water, energy and oil. Investments in infrastructural projects amounted to 35 percent of the total spending in the first year of the scheme, namely projects related to housing and public works.

Spending in the second year of 2011-2012 fiscal year is being examined, he indicated.
