KUWAIT -- Kuwait called on Tuesday for facilitating settlement mechanisms of arbitration for international trade disputes.
Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Rashed Al-Hammad, called in a statement addressed on his behalf by the acting undersecretary, Dr. Mohammad Al-Ansari, for choosing the best procedures and systems for promoting public awarness of legal affairs, namely measures for commercial contracts and terms for resorting to arbitration to settle commercial disputes.
The minister, in the statement that was addressed at the inaugural session of the second meeting of legal administrations, organized by the GCC Commercial Arbitration Center, indicated that natiinal legal and legislative departments could play a role at the local and regional levels for the adoption of new rules and regulations.
For his part, Khaled Al-Mudahkah, the deputy chairman of the board of the GCC center, said in his statement at the meeting the center has been seeking to promote the legal and arbitration culture among individuals and establishments in the GCC countries.
