Jobs On List
KUWAIT CITY, May 16
The Government Manpower and Restructuring Programme (GMRP) has forwarded a proposal to the Central Tenders Committee (CTC) on specifying KD 250 minimum salary for Kuwaitis in government contracts, says Secretary General of the GMRP and State Executive Authority Fauzia Al-Mijdali Al-Mijdali made the announcement recently at a press conference to announce the 'Thousand Projects' Exhibition which will be organized by the GMRP from June 5-8 under the sponsorship of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Disclosing that they had earlier met some officials of the Public Institution of Social Security for the purpose of setting up a mechanism to implement the anti-unemployment bill approved by the Parliament, Al-Mijdali disclosed the proposal includes the use of an electronic system to deal with those who have been laid off from work without the use of papers.
She explained the system will determine the qualifications of the applicants and find suitable jobs for them just by punching in their national identity number. Al-Mijdali disclosed the beneficiaries will receive financial support but they will lose this right if they reject job offers twice.
She was quick to add though that in case of losing this right, the beneficiaries may appeal the decision through a committee formed for this purpose. She also appealed to the employers to determine the salaries of national manpower according to the available jobs, without taking into consideration the financial support they receive from GMRP. It is worth mentioning that the government has been supporting citizens who lost their jobs from 2008 to April 2013.
The GMRP has, so far, received 2,000 applicants and 800 have been provided with jobs as per their qualifications, while the others will continue receiving financial support until they are employed. Meanwhile, Manager of the Thousand Projects Exhibition Jamila Al-Dawwas said this event is aimed at supporting projects owned and managed by Kuwaitis, indicating the GMRP will offer consultation services and financial support in a bid to train and encourage the youths to engage in such a worthwhile activity, so they can contribute to national growth.
