The Assembly of Loyality for Iraq comprises more than 20 members, including members of the Free Iraqiya and Nationals which separated from Iraqiya earlier, Abd-Khidair Taher, head of the new assembly told a press conference in Baghdad.

Taher continued as the tensions have reached a state where there are efforts to withdraw confidence from the government "we fear that the issue may threaten the unity and sovereignty of Iraq.

"Today in gratitude for Iraq and for founding a systematic institution which gathers all the representatives of the nation in the House of Representatives, we declare this assembly."

Taher said the new assembly has submitted a number of demands to the government, most notable of all are annulling the accountability and exile laws, disbanding the "illegal" courts, above all the High Criminal Court, and respecting article 140 which settles territorial disputes between Kurds and Baghdad.

As for the issue of withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the official said the issue should be resolved according to the constitutional procedures.

Taher called on the executive authority and the PM to review all the agreements and suspended files and set the stage for the national conference of the political leaders.

Major leaders, including Kurdistan's President Massoud Barzani, Allawi, and Sadr Current Leader Muqtada al-Sadr are endeavoring to replace Maliki through the House of Representatives.
