LONDON--The increasing violence in Iraq posed a threat to the country's oil infrastructure, a senior Iraqi oil official said Wednesday.

"We are back almost to the 2004, 2005 situation as far as pipeline integrity is concerned," said Thamir Ghadhban, top energy advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki during a conference in London.

A series of attacks against the country's northern export pipeline, which carries crude to the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan is seen as the main reason for a reduction in crude exports in May.
