Islamic Republic of Iran's Vice President for international affairs Ali Saeedlou said that IR Iran will try to increase the value of its trade transactions with Turkey to the level of $30 billion in a short period of time.
Saeedlou made the remarks at a UN-sponsored meeting on sustainable development held in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.
He told reporters that his upcoming visit to Turkey on Saturday is aimed at boosting trade relations between Tehran and Ankara.
"Besides doing executive works, we are trying to expand our relations with the neighboring countries and those countries with which we have friendly ties, particularly in the economic field," Saeedlou added.
He noted that senior officials of both countries have exchanged visits. The recent visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iran was the latest of such visits.
"Infrastructural activities are currently underway between both countries and Turkey wants to invest in Iran's power stations," Saeedlou said while referring to the fact that Iran is presently exporting gas to Turkey at the present.
He pointed out that Iranian and Turkish officials have agreed to hold joint sessions once every month either in Iran or Turkey.
