Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will finance Iran-Central Asia railraod, said head of the bank Ahmad Mohammad Ali.

He made the remark in a meeting with the visiting Iranian Economy and Finance Minister Shamseddin Husseini in Sudan's Capital city of Khartoum, Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Improving bilateral relations between IDB and Iran, using the commercial credit of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) and Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) and studying the probable problems which might be faced during implementing the projects approved by IDB are among the other issues that were discussed in the meeting.

Execution of Sarni Minab Dam project in southern Hormuzgan province with the financial support of IDB was approved during the meeting as well. The project is aimed at improving the living conditions of people residing in Bandar Abbas and its surrounding villages.

Director General of Hormuzgan Regional Water Company Jaafar Zirrahi said earlier that IDB will invest €87 million in the construction project of Sarni Minab Dam in the province as per an agreement signed by the Company and IDB officials.

He said IDB will invest in regional water projects based on consultations held with the bank officials.

Zirrahi said Iran has an 8-percent share in the IDB, so it can benefit from its low profit financial loans for investment in development projects.
