Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah launched the first Health Commission for Health Specialties' International Conference on Saturday. Dr. Al-Rabeeah is also the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Commission (SCFHS).
The conference is set to discuss 103 scientific papers presented by scientists from around the world, said Deputy Secretary General of the SCFHS, Dr. Sulaiman bin Omran Al-Omran, who is the head of the organizing committee.
The committee had been preparing the plans for the conference throughout the last year, he said in a speech.
Secretary General of the Commission, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hasan Al-Saegh, said the conference is aimed at serving trainees, for whom it would provide the latest developments in the field.
There is a large number of trainees in different health specialties in the Kingdom, he said, adding the conference comes in line with the commission's ambitious vision to bring the performance of Saudi health care to a world class level.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah said in a speech that Saudi Arabia tops Middle East and Eastern Europe countries in terms of the number of health training programs that number 64, including 50 that cover subspecialties.
These programs are introduced in 74 advanced centers accommodating more than 4,000 practitioners.
The minister said the health sector needs qualified manpower and subspecialists. "We are optimistic about the naturalization of health jobs in the country's regions through Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship program."
He said the commission has an advanced program for examining health degrees that is one of the pioneering programs in the world.
