Western Region, 13 Jan, 2010 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, today opened Tilal Liwa Hotel, under the management of Danat Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of the National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels (NCTH).

Sheikh Hamdan toured the hotel which is built in the traditional Emirati style. He expressed admiration for the achievement of building the unique hotel in line with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the unlimited support of General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, out of their keenness to preserve the country's rich heritage.

Sheikh Hamdan urged more involvement of the private sector in the local tourism sector.

The hotel represents a new concept of hospitality bringing the best of Arabic traditions and culture to life. With all 111 rooms and suites that are either facing the dunes of the Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter) desert or inwards overlooking the traditional gardens and pool, guests can spend unforgettable time in either presidential suite, executive suite, junior suites, queen rooms, or twin rooms, and rooms especially equipped for handicapped guests.

Located on the edge of the Rub Al Khali in the sands of Liwa amid rolling sand dunes and an unspoiled desert landscape, the hotel is managed by Danat Hotels '&' Resorts, a leading player in Abu Dhabi hotel's industry.

The hotel was designed to satisfy diverse tastes of lovers and enthusiasts of desert and environmental tourism amidst the calm and beautiful oasis of Liwa in the Western Region, overlooking the magnificent virgin dunes.
