Gulf Petrochemical Services and Contracting Company (GPS) has been awarded a RO30mn contract for the construction of a water transmission pipeline by Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Alex Valloor, business development manager at GPS, said that the project includes construction of a water transmission pipeline from the Ghubra water desalination plant to the Muscat water reservoir.

He said, "We have received a letter of award from PAEW. The value of the contract is over RO30mn. The project includes a large diameter water transmission line which will pass through the main Muscat city area.

"Micro-tunneling technology will be employed for the project. We have carried out two similar projects for Haya Water."

GPS also seems to have secured a RO22.4mn contract for expansion of the Salalah wastewater network. The award of the contract, valued at RO22.4mn, was announced by the Tender Board on Monday. However, the company has not received a letter of award so far.

"The value of the awarded contract is RO22.4mn, which was our bid price for the tender. The contract has been awarded by Salalah Sanitary Drainage Services Company. We were the lowest qualified bidder for this project," said Valloor.

"The scope of the Salalah wastewater network project includes the third phase of wastewater collection and conveyance systems. It covers very important areas in Salalah. The project also includes house connections, trunk sewer and a pump/lift station," he added.
