BASRA: National Alliance MP Jawad al-Bazouni disclosed that four power generating stations were found forgotten in Khor Zubair port stores.

Bazouni told Aswat al-Iraq that "we found them during a tour in the port, which were left and forgotten since 2005, after receiving information about them".

"Following inspection, we found 3 stations entered in 2005 and remained without any follow up that led to damages in part", he elaborated.

He added that one of the stations was supposed to be established in Shatt al-Arab area with a capacity of 1500 megawatts, the second in Rumaila with 1250 megawatts capacity, the third in Najibiya with a capacity of 500 megawatts.

The fourth power thermal station was imported in 1988 to be sent to Mosul, which "remained there without convincing reason".

Bazouni commented that "if they were in function since that time, the electricity crisis in the province could have been solved".
