MUSCAT -- The upcoming Oil & Gas West Asia (OGWA) 2008 Exhibition and Conference, which will start on April 21, has received an overwhelming response from oil and gas companies and industry professionals. All space available in the halls has been sold out. Omanexpo LLC, the company organising the biennial event since 1998, said it has sold out all stand spaces for the exhibition, with more than 150 companies from over 20 countries set to showcase their products, services and operations.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), which is organising a technical conference as part of OGWA 2008, has also been deluged with registrations from its members and other delegates worldwide. "The large number of exhibiting companies and industry professionals converging at OGWA 2008 confirm OGWA as Oman's largest event for the oil and gas industry. It will truly highlight the exciting developments and opportunities available," said C J Paul, general manager of Omanexpo.
Paul said the OGWA 2008 exhibition, which will run until April 23 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, will give companies an opportunity to showcase what they offer to major oil and gas firms that are currently involved in exploration and production activities in many parts of the country. He pointed out that among the 150 exhibiting companies are national oil and gas companies in the GCC, leading international oil and gas firms and oilfield service providers, and many other companies.
The conference will focus on the range of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies that are currently being implemented to further boost production output in many countries, including Oman. Named "The SPE EOR Conference at OGWA," it will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel. The conference will bring together global experts in all forms of EOR techniques to present, share and discuss their experiences. Several field pilots and case studies will also be part of the discussions.
