The Central Unit for Public Private Partnership (PPP) at Egypt's ministry of finance is considering offering the 6th of October stadium project to the private sector through a global tender to be announced before the end of this year, the unit director told Zawya.

"The stadium extends over an area of 13 acres. The anticipated feasibility studies and relevant technicalities pertaining to the PPP project are expected to be completed by July. By then, information regarding the specific project terms, conditions and contract duration will be made available," said Ater Hanoora, director of the Central Unit for Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Dr. Mostafa Azzam, director of the Investment Unit at Egypt's ministry of sport, said the tentative cost of the project has been estimated at USD 300 million, with the management period to be at least 20 years.

"This new stadium will serve the governorates of Giza, Fayoum and Minoufiya, which currently do not have any sports facilities, despite dense population exceeding one million. It is located about four kilometers from the Pyramids of Giza and is within the Media Production City surroundings. The stadium will have a comprehensive complex for services, business and tourism administration facilities," Azzam explained.

Azzam anticipated the project to be offered at the end of September to both the public and private sectors. In case the facility will be used during national sports team training or national sports event hosting, Egypt's government shall lease the stadium from the company that has been awarded operation and management rights.
