Saudi Basic Industries Corporation has taken adequate environmental safety and security measures in all its facilities in and outside the Kingdom.

Mohammed Al-Mady, vice chairman and chief executive officer of SABIC, made these remarks while presenting the company's first quarter report.

He was commenting in the context of the recent major fertilizer plant tragedy in Texas.

"We have taken all preventive measures against such accidents," he said, and added that such incidents could happen in any part of the world.

Expressing his regrets over the disaster, he said they (SABIC) were appalled by this tragedy that had caused human and material losses. He recalled that similar incidents had occurred before also in other parts of the world.

Stressing that his company has more than 150 products, Al-Mady said he is optimistic of the company's programs and hoped that things would improve in the coming years.
