Dubai: The total value of land transactions in Dubai last week reached Dh1.79 billion, of which sales exceeded Dh1.16 billion.

The total value of mortgages during the period was Dh635.76 million, according to the Land Department.

A total of 67 sale transactions were registered with the department by the end of the week, the most valuable of which was a plot on Shaikh Zayed Road that was sold for Dh87.46 million.

The next two most prominent sales saw a second plot in Jebal Ali acquired for Dh34.12 million and another in Al Jadaf for Dh32.55 million.

The Palm Jumeirah area was the most active in terms of the week's sales, with some 22 transactions. Jebel Ali followed with 10 sales.

The biggest area sold was 953,512.44 square feet in the World Islands, which went for Dh15.81 million. A 47,926 square foot plot in Sport City was disposed of for Dh14.61 million.

During the period under review 59 mortgages worth Dh460.63 million were registered, the most significant of which was Dh120 million for an area at Trade Centre-1.

Apartments and villas in freehold areas witnessed the registration of 380 sales transactions out of which 364 were for apartments for a total of Dh240.13 million and 16 for villas at a total of Dh33.98 million.
