Drillings of the Phase 14 of South Pars gas field will be started in the next few days, deputy managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) said.

Mohammad Reza Takaidi said the oil ministry plans to speed up development of the remaining phases of South Pars gas field, and added under the terms of a contract with Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), NIDC is responsible for the drilling operations of the Phase 14 of the South Pars gas field.

Two drilling rigs are available in the phase and operation is underway on schedule, the official told Shana.

South Pars gas field Phase 14 will produce 56.5 million cubic meters of sour gas and 75 thousand barrels of gas condensate per day.

A consortium consisting of eight Iranian companies is involved in the development of the phase by using finance and bonds as financial instruments for funding the project.

As a subsidiary of NIOC, NIDC has already implemented drilling projects in phases 4,5,9 and 10 of the South Pars and now is in charge of drilling operations in phases 14,17 and 18 under the terms of an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract.

Earlier, commenting on the construction of the country's first national gas refinery, the managing director of Iranian Central Oilfields Company said two teams have been positioned in Halgan region, Fars province to build the refinery.

Mehdi Fakour reiterated that development projects of Halgan and Sefid Baghun gas fields, Fars province were launched last Iranian year (started March 20) with the cooperation of Khatam ul-Anbia Headquarters.
