Baghdad - A spokesman for the Vice-President Tareq al-Hashemi said Thursday that the lawsuit issued by Fakhri Karim, the adviser of President Jalal Talabani, is due to disagreements between Kurdish leaders and Hashemi's office, confirming that the latter is still in his office until he is replaced as happened with Talabani.
Abdul Ilah Kadhim told AKnews that al-Hashemi is not considering the lawsuit issued against him by Karim, in which the latter accused him of impersonating Vice President of the Republic, as a private action but as an action that represents some of the respected opinions that we deal objectively with.
"The main reasons behind issuing the case is the existence of differences between the Office of Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi and Kurdish leaders, because of the political positions that followed the recent parliamentary elections."
"Al-Hashemi is still the vice president until a new deputy is elected to replace him in the parliament... President Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki stayed in their posts until the parliament voted for them during the formation of the government."
"Al-Hashemi was exercising legally his job as Vice President of the Republic, but Karim seems to miss this thing thus his legal assessment was not right."
"Al-Hashemi was keen to keep the relations good to find calm and balanced solutions for this issue."
