AMMAN -- Cisco Systems, Inc. will soon implement a programme in Jordan to train university graduates on latest ICT technologies and innovations.
"We are starting the programme in the UAE and after that we will implement it in Jordan, which is home to a pool of talent in the field," Rabih Dabboussi, managing director of Cisco UAE, told the Jordan Times Wednesday on the sidelines of the Cisco Connect UAE 2013 in Dubai.
The programme, to be implemented in cooperation with Jordanian universities, will provide beneficiaries with an opportunity to receive an internship at the Cisco office in Amman, Dabboussi said.
"The training will focus on technical skills and the know-how needed in the labour market, which will help trainees find it easier to find jobs," he added.
Employees working in IT departments at government agencies will be also eligible to benefit from the internship programme, according to Dabboussi.
During the interview, he said Cisco is committed to collaborating with Jordan to support e-health and e-education projects.
In a session during the event, Dabbousi said Cisco is committed to supporting the government, especially when it comes to projects that seek to enhance the ICT infrastructure.
The event, which attracted more than 2,000 technology sector experts as well as executives from several companies and organisations from across the region and Cisco partners, focused on latest ICT trends, challenges and opportunities among other related issues.
Cisco Connect UAE also included the "World of Solutions", an interactive exhibition area that featured technologies and solutions by Cisco.
