MUSCAT -- The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) has announced a strategic collaboration with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) for offering training programmes on Islamic Banking in Oman. An agreement to that effect was signed recently by Dr Ashraf Nabhan al Nabhani, Dean, CBFS and Garry Muriwai, Director, BIBF, during the Annual GCC Institutes Meet at Bahrain. The Heads of the GCC Institutes of UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were also present at the signing ceremony.

"CBFS is proud to associate with BIBF for meeting the Islamic banking training needs of banks in Oman. BIBF are leaders in the field of Islamic banking training, as evidenced by their being adjudged 'Best Islamic Finance Training Institution' for three consecutive years by Islamic Business and Finance magazine, a sister publication of The Banker of the UK. This collaboration will add significant value to banks in Oman as they gear up to gain a competitive advantage in this new line of business through properly trained and competent staff," said Dr Al Nabhani.

The training offered under the collaboration will be rolled out in a phased manner in the coming days and will cover programs at basic, intermediate and advanced levels on progression basis, besides focused offerings on specific aspects such as Islamic Banking products (Islamic Credit Cards, Ijara, Murabaha and so on), Sharia audit, Islamic risk management and Islamic documentation structure.
