Bahra Cables Co, a subsidiary of Construction Products Holding Company (CPC), has opened a new plant for manufacturing PVC (poly vinyl chloride) conduits and fittings for electrical use.
The new factory, named BC Conduit, has an annual production capacity of 18,000 tons of PVC conduits, fittings and couplings of different diameters.
The company already has a factory for the production of poly vinyl chloride (PVC), which is a plastic substance used in packaging and insulation of cables, electrical wires, as well as in manufacturing of conduits in order to meet the company's PVC requirement. The annual production capacity of this plant is 36,000 tons.
The BC Conduit plant was built in the Bahra Cables factory area located in the industrial complex of Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) in Bahra, near Jeddah.
The new plant occupies a 10,000 square meter area out of a total of Bahra Cables' 300,000 square meter area.
Talal Idriss, CEO of Bahra Cables Co. for Cable Manufacturing, said the company decided to build a new plant within the framework of its plan of expansion to meet the needs of the domestic and neighboring markets.
It takes advantage of its poly vinyl chloride production plant, which gets the necessary raw material from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).
He said that most of the equipment at the new PVC conduits and fittings plant are German-made and the production will be in accordance with the latest international standards and technology to meet the high specifications required for projects.
Idriss said the industry of cable and related accessories in Saudi Arabia is currently expanding to meet the growing demand of projects located throughout the Kingdom and also to meet the needs of the construction sector in general.
He said the national companies can meet about 90 percent of the Kingdom's needs for these materials, which are produced in accordance with the highest local and international standards. Part of the production is also exported to neighboring countries.
