Abu Dhabi, Mar 12th, 2012 (WAM)--The Board of Emirates Media Measurement Company (EMMC), tasked with the measurement and rating the TV viewers in the UAE discussed yesterday the work progress in this project.

It was announced after the meeting that the EMMC will provide reports from next weeks on measurement and rating of the TV viewers, and that the reports will be first endorsed officially by competent authorities.

The meeting was chaired by Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of National Media Council (NMC) in the presence of board members and stakeholders in the project such as Abu Dhabi Media Company, Etisalat, Sharjah Media Corporation and Rotana Group.

NMC supervises over EMMC and provides full support to the project, which is the first TV rating electronic system in the Arab Gulf region. The programmes aims to enhance the quality of the TV programmes and advertisment materials.

Ibrahim Al Abed said during the meeting that there is still a chance for telecast bodies and competent sectors to join the project to ensure transparency in the decision making and credibility, stressing the cooperation of main competent authorities in the UAE in the project.

Independent auditor for the project has been appointed in accordance with international standards to assess and evaluate the TV viewers. The participation of du has been also confirmed in support of this project as a sponsor and investor in the EMMC.
