SFAX - British Gas Tunisia (BG) committed Tuesday to fund two projects in the health and education fields, in Negta and Gargour, located near the gas production plant south of Sfax.
The first project, which consists in fitting out and equipping a basic health centre in Negta by means of estimated 1.149 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), will provide health services to 20 thousand locals.
The second project regards the achievement of maintenance and fitting out works of 5 schools in Gargour. It will mobilise investments worth 135 thousand Tunisiandinars and will help reduce early school dropout in rural areas and improve the education quality and the level of youths' educational guidance in these regions.
The two projects' agreements were signed on Tuesday in Sfax by British Gas Tunisia CEO, the Sfax Governor, a representative of the Tunisian Company of Petroleum Activities (ETAP), the Regional Health Director and a representative of the Regional Education Authority.
Taking the floor, Mr. Michael Riss asserted his company's determination to support the region at the social and development levels according to the principles of transparency and good governance cited in the articles of the concluded agreements.
